+Call to Worship

Leader: How very good and pleasant it is

People: when kindred live together in unity!...

Leader: It is like the dew of Hermon, which falls on the mountains of Zion.

People: For there the LORD ordained his blessing, life forevermore.

O God, who has called us aside this day from the toil and tumult of our world, free us also, we pray, from its cares and idle concerns.  The world consumes our thoughts; our souls are oppressed by its anxiety, worried by its turmoil, frustrated by its priorities.  How we long, O Lord, for the peace of your sanctuary, the comfort of your presence. Forgive our sins, cleanse our hearts, and strengthen us for struggles yet to come. Remind us that the worst the world can do to us is no match for what you are already producing in us.  As we step back into the society in which we live, help us to be in the world but not of the world; free us from our bondage to the world's deceits, that we might be free to know your truth.  Make our hearts your temple and our lives the place where your Holy Spirit works.  Amen.
