+Call to Worship

Leader: Incline your ear, O LORD, and answer me, for I am poor and needy.

People: For you, O God, are good and forgiving.

Leader: Preserve my life, for I am devoted to you; save your servant who trusts in you.

People: For you, O Lord, are good and forgiving.

Leader: You are my God; be gracious to me, O Lord, for to you do I cry all day long.

People: For you, O Lord, are good and forgiving.

Leader: Gladden the soul of your servant, for to you, O Lord, I lift up my soul.

People: For you, O Lord, are good and forgiving.

+Invocation

In the midst of the challenges of daily life, O Lord, we are thankful for your gracious and comforting presence.  When we face hostility, you provide love; when we feel weak, you provide love; when we are confused, you provide direction. Though time and again we have fallen short of your will for our lives, you are good and forgiving; you reach out to reconcile and restore us.  What amazing love, O Lord!  We are undeserving of it, yet we gratefully accept it as your gift.  Yet we know, Lord, that most of those around us do not know that love in their own lives.  We see them every day: in the office, at school, at the shop, in our own homes.  Help us, Lord, to be faithful witnesses of your love; stir within us an urgency to share your good news with those who so desperately need to hear it.  Even as you have loved us, make us instruments of your love to others. For we ask it in the name of the One who loved us, even to the point of a cross.  Amen.
