+Call to Worship

Leader: Ascribe to the Lord, O heavenly beings, ascribe to the Lord glory and strength. Ascribe to the Lord the glory of his name; worship the Lord in holy splendor.

People: The voice of the Lord is over the waters; the God of glory thunders, the Lord, over mighty waters.

Leader: The voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is full of majesty. The voice of the Lord breaks the cedars; the Lord breaks the cedars of Lebanon. He makes Lebanon skip like a calf, and Sirion like a young wild ox.

People: The voice of the Lord flashes forth flames of fire. The voice of the Lord shakes the wilderness; the Lord shakes the wilderness of Kadesh.

Leader: The voice of the Lord causes the oaks to whirl, and strips the forest bare; and in his temple all say, "Glory!"

All: The Lord sits enthroned over the flood; the Lord sits enthroned as king forever. May the Lord give strength to his people! May the Lord bless his people with peace!

O Lord, your voice is so full of glory and might. It can be heard in the crashing thunder of a sudden storm, in the excited chirp of a robin, in the cry of a newborn child, in the soothing voice of a loving mother, and in the laughter shared among friends.  Your voice sometimes frightens us, sometimes comforts us, sometimes condemns us, and sometimes calls out to us.  But always your voice surrounds us with your love and your presence, if only we will listen.  Help us, O Lord, as those who have been baptized in your name, to hear your voice and having heard it, to obey.  And then, Lord, help us to be your voice to the world.  Amen.
