+Call to Worship

Leader: To you I lift up my eyes, O you who are enthroned in the heavens!

People: As the eyes of the servants look to the hand of their master,

Leader: as the eyes of a maid to the hand of her mistress,

People: so our eyes look to the LORD our God, until he has mercy upon us.

+Invocation

Redeemer God, we pray this day for all who are lost, all who are forlorn and friendless.  In a world that puts so much emphasis on love and intimacy, all around us are people starving for love, for friendship, for a caring person.  Help us to be more loving—to use the gifts you have given us to serve those in need.  We hold up before you the down-and-out persons of this world—from the starving masses in Africa and Asia to the deserted mother in a North American city; from the unemployed and underemployed to the person with severe physical and emotional disabilities.  We pray for those caught up in the terrible web of alcohol, drugs, or meaningless living. Help all of these persons in your special way to find hope and joy in spite of their circumstances.  We especially pray for missionary efforts around the world.  May we all be drawn to a better understanding of the commitment we must have as disciples and churches to "go and make disciples of all nations."  Help us to share the good news with all the world. Amen.
