+Call to Worship

Leader: Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord from the heavens; praise him in the heights!

People: Praise him, all his angels; praise him, all his host!

Leader: Praise him, sun and moon; praise him, all you shining stars! Praise him, you highest heavens, and you waters above the heavens!

People: Let them praise the name of the Lord, for he commanded and they were created. He established them forever and ever; he fixed their bounds, which cannot be passed.

Leader: Praise the Lord from the earth, you sea monsters and all deeps, fire and hail, snow and frost, stormy wind fulfilling his command!

People: Mountains and all hills, fruit trees and all cedars! Wild animals and all cattle, creeping things and flying birds!

Leader: Kings of the earth and all peoples, princes and all rulers of the earth! Young men and women alike, old and young together!

People: Let them praise the name of the Lord, for his name alone is exalted; his glory is above earth and heaven.

Leader: He has raised up a horn for his people, praise for all his faithful, for the people of Israel who are close to him.

All: Praise the Lord!

+Invocation

Almighty and ever-blessed God, we bring praises before your throne, for you alone are worthy of praise. You fashioned the heavens and the earth, and gave life to all that dwell within them. You created a people, and through the generations have provided purpose and direction. And even though we have sinned against you, you gave your Son as a sacrifice, that we might be forgiven and restored to relationship with you. How can we fathom such love? Help us, Lord, to be stirred from complacency to action; from apathy to commitment; from hostility to love. Even as you loved us, help us to love one another, that through such love you will become present and your presence will be made evident to all with whom we come into contact. Help us to love as Jesus loved, in whose name we pray, Amen.
