+Call to Worship                                                                    David Smith

Leader: Clap you hands, all you peoples; shout to God with loud songs of joy.

People: For the Lord, the Most High, is awesome, a great king over all the earth.

Leader: He subdued peoples under us, and nations under our feet.

People: He chose our heritage for us, the pride of Jacob whom he loves.

Leader: God had gone up with a shout, the Lord with the sound of a trumpet. Sing praises to God, sing praises; sing praises to our King, sing praises.

People: For God is the king of all the earth; sing praises with a psalm.

Leader: God is king over the nations; God sits on his holy throne.

All: The princes of the peoples gather as the people of the God of Abraham. For the shields of the earth belong to God; he is highly exalted.

Holy Father, we stand in awe before your throne.  As the psalmist said, you are an awesome God, "a great king over all the earth."  Therefore we gather to praise you in song and speech, to lift up our hearts in joy and thanksgiving.  Yet even as we praise you, we are reminded that true worship is more than words and emotion; it is also action and obedience. Continue to remind us, Lord, that our truest satisfaction and joy will come only through walking with Christ daily in faithfulness and service.  Make us your servants, even as Christ gave himself in service, for we ask it in his name.  Amen.
