OPENING PRAYER  (Prayer for our country)             Toyohiko Kagawa, Japan

O God, keep our whole country under your protection.  Wipe out

sin from this land; lift it up from the depth of sorrow.  O Lord,

our shining light.  Save us from deep grief and misfortune, Lord

of all nations.  Bless us with your wisdom, so that the poor may

not be oppressed and the rich may not be oppressors.  Make this a

nation having no ruler except God, a nation having no authority

     but that of Love.  Amen.

Opportunities and Announcements

We have two roses on the altar this morning.  One is in honor of the birth of Jared Douglas Norman, son of Emily and Josh Norman.  Jared was born September 13.  His big brother is Thomas and his big sister is Olivia.  The other rose is in honor of the birth of Maeve Leeann Clemons, daughter of Troy and Emily Clemons.  Proud grandparents of both Jared and Maeve are Paula and Doug Clemons; and great grandmother, Judy Dolan.  Congratulations on your new precious bundles of joy!

We are planning another class to teach anyone willing to learn how to run the power point presentations during Sunday worship services so that with new volunteers, along with our current volunteers, we have plenty to cover each Sunday.  Do you feel this is something you would like to do?  If so, call the church office at 304-647-4504.  We are planning to have the class a Sunday in October right after the worship service, so please let us know soon.  We are so thankful for our current power point volunteers, Bren Pittsenbarger, Melissa and Ben Routson, Randy Dolan, and David Smith!

A BIG THANK YOU to everyone that made food and/or came to help with the Shepherd’s Center meal this past Wednesday.  Everyone working together made a wonderful meal possible to 60 community shut-ins that look forward to their “Gwen’s meal” each Wednesday!

World Communion Sunday is October 2.

Our next Fellowship Time will be October 9 after worship.

Our United Methodist Women will meet Tuesday, October 11, at 2pm.
