The Lord God brought all things into being, and all things belong to Him.

That same God provides for our every need, and we are grateful.

God appears before the world in many forms.

We praise God, the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

OPENING PRAYER Unison

Almighty God, we thank you for the gift of life and all that is part of it.

You brought all things into being and gave your blessing to it. You made

us in your image and gave us responsibility for the care of the earth. As

we worship this morning, speak to our hearts about how we can be good

stewards of all things great and small. Through the Holy Spirit, open our

minds, our hearts, and our eyes so that we can be sensitive to the needs

before us. Hear our prayer, we pray in the name of Christ.

Opportunities and Announcements

Trinity Singers will rehearse on Tuesday, June 6, at 6 pm.

The second Bible School planning meeting will be this Wednesday, June 7, 6:30pm at Elizabeth Chapel. If you would like to help, plan to attend.

The date for VBS has been set for June 26-29 from 6-8pm. We are so excited to announce the theme for Vacation Bible School this year will be “Hay Day - Growing in Friendship with Jesus.”

Our first church picnic to kick off the summer will be June 18, 11:00 am, Shelter #1 at the Island Park. We will have an informal worship first and then the picnic. Bring a covered dish to share.

The church office will be closed this week for vacation. Please call Pastor Joe at 304.645.6339 if you need anything.

The next United Methodist Women’s meeting will be Tuesday, June 13, at 2pm.

We will be sending in all the money we raised for COME soon. If you picked a date on the calendar and haven’t already given your money, please mark your donation “COME” and put it in the offering plate.

Leader: God has called us together for this time of worship. God is listening to our thoughts and to our speaking.

People: God inclines an ear to us and hears us. God knows us better than we know ourselves.

Leader: Let us open our hearts to the One who gives us life. Let us set our faith and hope in God.

People: In one another’s presence, we renew our vows. Together we offer our thanksgiving sacrifice.

Leader: God’s promises to us are ancient and ever new. God is with us here and on all the roads we travel.

People: Together we lift our voices in songs of praise. Together we recognize we are precious in God’s sight.

Wondrous God, present with us when we do not know it, valuing us when we do not care for ourselves, planting in us the seed of your word even when the soil of our hearts is hard and unyielding, open our eyes to recognize you here. May we sense your presence next to us. May we hear your voice. May we know your touch. May we see you in one another and in the beauty all around us.

May your reality emerge deep inside each life, transforming our thoughts and deeds and our relationship with one another. Amen.

Call to Confession

Peter preached: “Save yourselves from this crooked generation. Repent…so your sins may be forgiven.” We participate in our society’s alienation from God. We have joined the “me” generation in putting our own interests before all else. We have much to confess before we can claim the wholeness God offers.

Prayer of Confession (in unison)

O God, we confess that we rush through our days without recognizing your presence with us. We follow our busy diversions without reference to your will for us. We strive for financial success and personal recognition, while you call for obedience to truth and genuine mutual love. Purify our souls, we pray, and redirect our priorities. May we be born anew through your living and enduring word. Amen.

Assurance of Forgiveness

The promise of forgiveness is for us and for our children, for everyone who God calls. The gift of the Holy Spirit is ours to receive. Lift up the cup of salvation every day, and call on God’s name. Give thanks for the words and deeds of Jesus, who revealed God’s love for us and enlists us as disciples and apostles. Amen.
