+Call to Worship                                                              Carol Creasman

Leader: When Israel went out from Egypt, the house of Jacob from a people of strange language,

People: Judah became God's sanctuary, Israel his dominion.

Leader: The sea looked and fled; Jordan turned back.

People: The mountains skipped like rams, the hills like lambs.

Leader: Why is it, O sea, that you flee? O Jordan, that you turn back?

People: O mountains, that you skip like rams? O hills, like lambs?

Leader: Tremble, O earth, at the presence of the LORD, at the presence of the God of Jacob,

People: who turns the rock into a pool of water, the flint into a spring of water.

O Lord, you reach out to us in love, even when we are unlovely; you stretch out your hand to us, even when we stubbornly ignore you; you extend to us your marvelous grace, even when we remain obstinate and undeserving.  Forgive us our foolish pride that rejoices in your forgiveness of our sin while refusing to forgive our brothers' and sisters' offenses against us.  Help us to discover afresh the joy that comes from experiencing your forgiveness of our sin and the joy that comes from allowing ourselves to forgive others even as you have forgiven us.  Amen.
