Greeting & Announcements

+Call to Worship

Leader: The heavens are telling the glory of God; and the firmament proclaims his handiwork.

People: Day to day pours forth speech, and night to night declares knowledge.

Leader: The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul;

People: the decrees of the LORD are sure, making wise the simple;

Leader: the precepts of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart;

People: the commandment of the LORD is clear, enlightening the eyes;

Leader: the fear of the LORD is pure, enduring forever;

People: the ordinances of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.

Leader: More to be desired are they than gold, even much fine gold;

People: sweeter also than honey, and drippings of the honeycomb.

Leader: Moreover by them is your servant warned; in keeping them there is great reward.

People: But who can detect their errors? Clear me from hidden faults.

Leader: Keep back your servant also from the insolent; do not let them have dominion over me. Then I shall be blameless, and innocent of great transgression.

ALL: Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable to you, O LORD, my rock and my redeemer.

God of unsearchable glory and unmeasurable majesty, we praise you for your revelation of yourself in Jesus Christ, our Lord. In Christ, we have come to know you as a God of love and mercy, a God of grace and compassion.  Through Christ we have sensed your touch and experienced your blessing.  On the cross he conquered sin and death, and through his cross we have received life and light.  Even as he was willing to sacrifice his very life on that cross that we might be reconciled to the Father, so give us the strength and courage to carry that cross each day—to carry it to the poor and oppressed; to carry it to the sick and imprisoned; to carry it to the lost and loveless. And as we carry that cross in our own lives and words and actions, may your Holy Spirit nurture in us a flame of righteousness and holiness that this world cannot extinguish—a flame that will burn with power and purpose until that day when we gather around your throne and sing praises to the One who hung on that cross for us, for we pray in his name. Amen.
